UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

What glorious light! This is a magnificent shot, Bill - you definitely need to zoom in to see this one properly!

Another nice shot Bill, and ZOOM is well worthwhile!

A beautiful 'room' and a great pic. My perfumes take up a lot less space, I have to say.

Beautiful capture and the light is making this really special!

A good zoom and nice to have a couple of guys in there Bill. I would love to stroll through here.

As familiar as my own living room! LOL! Well ... perhaps not ... but still, it's a comfortable and welcome view! I love the light flooding in through the end of the hangar. It really shows off the open feeling you get in that place! VERY nice!

Good control of the light here where you have used it to your advantage-zoom is a must

Very nice Bill. I see you have a new toy. That is a MONSTER of a camera. The sky's the limit now. Actually considering unloading my SLR equipment. Never thought I would say this... just heading in another direction now.

nice airy shot of a great space

??????????????? They're stood next to a genuine Fw-190 and looking the other way......please give them a slap :-) Well I said Mr Allen seems to provide light but this is amazing.About as far removed from a museum as you could imagine.......more like a dealership, "I'll take 2 of those and 1 of these, oohh, and 1 of those for the Wife" :-) @Tara..."As familiar as my own living room!"....yes, I thought you must have noticed that Rata picture on the back wall.....but Paul wants it back :-) LoL !!!

Must be impressive to see all those planes
jendellas
I like this Bill as it lets me see how the planes are exhibited. xx

Nice shot Bill. Seem to be all German aircraft and the setup makes sure that nobody gets too close to them. I like the light and if it wasn't for the aircraft it could be a train station, same size and shape. BTW- I like Tara's comment!
sandra46
great shot
flavia49
fantastic shot

That new camera is brilliant; I love the quality of this shot, it's so THERE! Meaning, of course, that it's just as if I were there, with the light glaring in my eyes, and all the perfect details on all those metal thingiebobs and plates and suchlike... ;}
danapommet
Excellent presentation of this classic collection and nice lighting for this type of museum collection.

Oooh...this is most definitely a zoomer! I mean...really! The light is wonderfully intense and I love the mix of flying things (even if they're not flying) and people posing in those odd sorts of ways that that people pose when they're not actually posing. The sense of space is amazing, and the light is stunning. I love the "openness" this shot has, and the crisp clarity is amazing.

Nice composition and light.

Neil... And no offense to Bill, but I bet those two were looking a Mustang.. Same at Dayton.. But...lets get to it, from a fans POV! This is how ALL Museums should be lit!!! And further more be accessed! A photographers paradise! Wonderful.. Rob

I'll make this briefer, just so I can get in more images this morning. But this is a prime example of your light. It just pours into your space, into your composition, and it informs the whole shot. I love how the planes nearest the end are swallowed by the light. So is the hangar itself---swallowed, partially obliterated...But the lines of the aircraft are still clear and clean. (The Canon serves you well here!) And your pov: the aisle opening up to us, the obliterating light in the back half of it, the dark track lights atop looking almost like streamers or party designs suspended from the ceiling, making wonderful contrasts to the light. This captures the wonderful sense of sweep and illumination of hangars (and of these museums). It has a mystical feel, which I assume is just what pilots feel as they enter the holy of holies, anticipating their flight into the heavens. Just what your title suggests; and it's a real beauty. (Bill, I could fav everyone, so know how much I appreciate all your shots. Besides my fav's only show up once in a while, so I've tended to leave them be. But when I fav, you'll get the ebot, even if the fav doesn't show in my gallery.)
