Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Wonderful. If anyone ever wonders why SLR users drag their heavy cameras around everywhere instead of just using a compact...they need only see this at full view. (Which I'm sure isn't actually full res!). The detail is wonderful mate. As a person who loves detail in a photo, your work is stunning my friend. If you don't mind, I would love to use this as my desktop. PS I wish this new comment box was BIGGER! The wide aperture was a perfect choice.

Great shot!

I love your composition, and the clarity you're getting is fabulous. An outstanding image. I wouldn't be half so impressed if I were standing there looking at it! :P (And is that a picture of the Rata on the wall?)

This is truly magnificent, and it's funny, after reading the novel, Cryptonomicon, I know to look at a plane engine and know what it sounds like. I doubt that has anything to do with this image, but yet... ...the details in this are absolutely stunning. I love zooming in and getting lost in all of the rich business going on in this shot. I love the sense of light and color as well. This is truly brilliant.

Another awesome shot Bill and they were indeed a nemisis to the US. I flew many simulator missions in a Hellcat against the Zero, and I frequently lost the fight. I did very well in other missions and was particularly good at carrier landings which frustrated my son as he was never able to land on a carrier and remain alive, LOL!

Very cool looking design & you've made it appealing even to non-aviation enthusiasts...

I will be declaring next week Bill :) Denise told me about the changes that have taken place here, and I must say, I am a lot happier with the new colour scheme. The other was playing havoc with my eye sight. This is a whole load better. In the next few days. I may even post an image :) Serious radial engine on this Zeke I recall in a classroom back in the RAF were were learning all about these Mitsubishi aircraft. We saw that they were literally flying fuel tanks, and very vulnerable to anti-aircraft defences. But what a great sleek looking airplane they were/are.

very clean and cultivated! but i think they made better cars;)... superb picture!

What training you must have to go through to keep these machines up & running, looks so complicated!!

Oh my. I never dreamed I'd see something like this. Those two circles of staggered cylinders show the power in those engines. A real feat of engineering for that time. Good job showing the details. Tripod or hand held? Keep up the good work! I really enjoy your "alternate" anatomy photos! :-) Now, where did the Rendo crew hide the 6 on the rating scale?
dragonmuse
Stunning clarity. Excellent capture.

The Allied 'bod' who decided to call this a 'Zero' obviously didn't count on the trouble it would cause.Built for a purpose and at a price ( lack of armour and self seal fuel tanks usually made that price the pilots life, but when you can train a pilot to get off the ground in 3 hours, what the heck...) A real American nightmare in the beginning but soon outclassed and outnumbered. Another beautiful, crisp image Bill, you obviously had fun with your new camera....
