Hi everybody,
My name is Dana Pommet and my wife’s name is Josephine. I was born in Gloucester, Massachusetts, in 1942, and except for a tour in the Navy, lived there for most of my life. I retired to Delray Beach, Florida in December 2000. We love to travel and photography goes hand and hand with that. I went digital about 5 years ago and started posting November 22, 2008. I have met so many wonderful people on RR and that makes this whole process so much more interesting than just posting photos. Thanks for all the comments and keep them coming.
Update  January 2012: After hiding and denying my mild Dyslexia, for most of my professional life, and now fighting with its advancement – I want to thank you all for putting up with my poor typing skills and spelling problems. I know that my spell checker hates me and I now depend completely on audio books rather then actually reading printed books.  Life marches on!  ÂÂ

Nice image-Interesting information on what they eat to help digest their food-Would not have thought or believed that they ate glass-Just like some human kid's who swallow thing's. not forgetting an odd adult or two also

"They are nomadic and may travel long distances to find food." OK. but from Australia to Florida, for an Ice cream Cone, seems excessive.LOL. Fantastic portraits of these two birds, my friend.Details and color are great.

Wonderfully handsome birds! Emus are among my favorites, especially since they've retained many of the physiological features of their dinosaur ancestors...right down to their often piercing, disinterested expressions. Such wonderful birds! Rather handsome specimens.

Cool emus, you should have a look at the Australian Cassowary similar to the emu, a lot more colourful and a lot more agressive.

I tried eating Emu steak once just to try and did not find it to my taste. there are many Emu ranches in East Texas that grow them to sell to restaurants these were just wild?

Prima Fotos.

Oh, watch out they can kick like a mule from what I hear! Not surprised to hear they eat such diverse stuff to help digest their food. My brother-in-law raises turkeys and a few years ago when he dressed one off in the gizzard there were nuts, bolts, pieces of glass that were worn smooth on the edges as well as various stones. At least ice cream isn't hard to digest, LOL.
