Description

This is a picture of Margerie Glacier in Glacier Bay National Park. The jagged top of this glacier looks like massive spires. Clouds parted long enough to get a view of a distant mountain on the Fairweather Range. Thank for viewing and your comments !

Now this is a view I can totally lose myself in! I love the details and the overall sense of scale. Glaciers are impressive and gorgeous! I love that they move but only in ways that can be measured in geologic time rather than the fleeting mayfly time we human sorts of people get to endure. I love the colors in this and the sense of the whole environment. That upper portion of the glacier is amazing with its layered strata. I love this image.

Hummm, having worked in the arctic along the ocean I can feel the cold breath of frigid salt air as I view this image. However, what I love most here is the three very distinct landscape layers, pluse the fog layer between two of them. Each layer is so perfectly defined with its own texture and color - you could draw a line around each of them.

Beautiful multi-layered composition. Those striations on the glacier are remarkable - looks like veins running through a mineral specimen. And I like the colorful touches of yellow on green as well...

An amazing capture and depth. I have yet to get to Glacier NP and I am hearing that I am to late to see the old wonders!
