Posting has been a problem for me over the last few days. The RR site keeps dropping me out of the gallery. On October 1, 1982 Walt Disney opened EPCOT (Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow) near Orlando, Florida. It was the second of four theme parks built at the Walt Disney World Resort. Spaceship Earth was the centerpiece of EPCOT and this 18-story geodesic sphere can be seen from any point in the park. Inside the silver colored sphere was a 15 minute ride that takes guests for a ride through the history of the world. The sphere is 165 feet (50 meters) in diameter, 518.1 feet (158 meters) in circumference. It has a volume of 2,350,000 cubic feet (716,280 cubic meters) and weighs 15,520,000 pounds (7,040,000 kg). This night photo was taken 15 years ago and recently scanned. The golden fountain is about 300 feet (91.4 meters) away from the sphere. It is a noisy photo but I have always liked it. Very cool photo! I have never been to Epcot. The last time I went to Disneyworld was in May of...1980? And Epcot was due to open in Oct. Have never been back but would LOVE to take my husband who has never been to Disneyworld before. Being one of 7 kids, it wasn't an option...maybe someday!
