Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

I have to use a chainsaw often on my property to trim trees and the like, and aside from being dangerous, it is also very hard work. People imagine it's easy (when compared to the old hand saws), but holding the heavy machine for long periods is quite challenging. Certainly not a job for the faint of heart! I can say for sure that Mike and Mark earned every cent of their pay.

Sounds like a lot of what Americans do on the job stand around and watch lol good pics.

Superb collage and the ladder is a great idea.

What a job. Hope Mark stays safe, and all those beneath him. I can't help but think of all the wood projects that could be made from all that wood.

They have done a superb job, I know a few firms called Bodge it & scarper :o) Lovely for the foxes, would be good to get a pic of them using it :o)

Looks like they did a great job, and the fox ladder is outstanding! The price seems good to me, especially since they did such fine work!

Nice collage of that cut tree

Excellent collage, Andrea and I love the fox ladder. I think it is a fair price. Its a dangerous job and hard work. They did well.

WOODMAN, spare that tree! Touch not a single bough! In youth it sheltered me, And I ’ll protect it now. ’T was my forefather’s hand That placed it near his cot; There, woodman, let it stand, Thy axe shall harm it not. George Pope Morris In spite of the moral outrage shown above, an awesome montage of the lads cutting down -sans axes - and disassembling of the old timer, Andrea.

Ooh, look at all those lovely timber rounds, will you use them for garden borders, or will you burn them? And that ladder is an elegant solution to one of your problems, I think. Maybe the foxes will get away before Ralphie can get them. Hopefully Ralphie can't climb the ladder!

Neat and professional. I do hope Ralph is not tempted to go over the fence after the foxes.
jocko500
look like you got a good tree people cutters. you going to make something with the wood or burn it or they moved the wood off to where ever?

We've cut trees out at the Hollow, and one or two that were very close to the camper. My hubby and his brother took down one right next to the camper, and did a terrific job. This is not easy work. Especially in a tight spot such as you had, the men did a terrific job. Love the fox ladder! makes escape from the ever vigilant Ralph, the Fox Population Control Agent.

Bodgeit & Scarper, are they local :)

More wonderful shots of the felling talents. It does need a lot of strength, training and skill. It is also an area the genuinely needs a true health and safety approach and planning! As apposed to the ridiculous elf 'n' safety we see applied to conkers at school!

A very informative montage Andrea and if I interpret what I’m seeing – the emergency fox ladder is the part of the tree that is still ‘rooted’ in the ground. Great idea and that could save Ralph some nasty scars. Everyone is a winner in this one. Two nice photos on FlickR also!

Quite an undertaking! Great collage Andrea!

they have done a great job and you did it as well!

It seems like a good price to me too. That looks like a lot of work. My mom has problems with tall pines near her house. She's had one taken down, and one fell during Hurricane Rita. She was lucky with the one that fell. It fell away from her house and only did minor damage to her neighbor's house. It clipped the corner of the roof and smashed into a chain link fence. Great pictures here and on flickr. I like the fox ladder!
