Description

Cosmetics This was a test of textures, lighting and putting threads on the glass vessel. I created the table first, using a plane. The top, middle and bottom of the lipstick cases are, of course, cylinders. I unwrapped the cylinders (lipstick cases), then placed a very colorful image I found, which was actually an image of a painting on canvas on the cases using the UV/Image Editor. To achieve the angle at the tip of the lipstick, I simply used a copy of the cylinder, then used a cube, scaled and rotated, and pressed the cube into the cylinder until the angle and depth of entry look correct. I then asked for the difference between the two, and when I moved the cube away, the difference was removed from the cylinder, leaving just the angle and depth I wanted. I’m not sure as yet how to use Blender, but, I knew I wanted threads on the glass vessel. Using the “Screw” button and playing around, I got the look I wanted, but it was separate from the vessel. I scaled the screw to the same size as the opening, and dropped it down inside just a touch. The problem I had though, was one it rendered, you could see through the gaps in the threads. To fix this, I created another cylinder, scaled it to fit into the threads, made everything the same texture (glass with a Reflective Index of 1.33) and it fixed the problem. Actually, for my first try, I think it came out just fine. The background is an image of paint on a wall I found online. I placed the image on a plane and then scaled it. Last thing was the lighting. I hope you like it :)
