Description

Looking at this and next Sunday being Mother's day. It has placed a little tune running in my head. Something like......"Over the boardwalk and through the woods. To Grandmother's house we go". I know, how silly, but I can't deny it either...lol! The coastal mountains here in Redwoods NP offer some amazing trails. This is the famous "Fern creek canyon", but here we are atop the canyon walking the rim. The rugged mountains on either side of this canyon all drain this direction out to the sea. The boardwalk here spanned a boggy drainage going into Fern canyon. These boggy areas are the only break from the dense forestation. The link below will take you in the canyon. These drainage's provide many types of ferns to cover the canyon walls. If you missed the previous post of the "Coyote Buttes", it's a good one. ;~) Please visit the gallery. To the kind souls that leave their mark whether a comment, rating, or save the image as a fav, you are very much appreciated, thank you!!! thumb_2366306.jpg

One can get a better feel for the terrain in the full view. The steep raising of the land to the left and the drop into the canyon is about 100 feet(30 meters) to the right.

What an absolutely delightful place this is! Love the little boardwalk - non-obtrusive but very functional. Gorgeous capture, Dana!
