Volume II - Episode 4 Where: Cologne, Germany When: 1 month and 5 days after E-Day, 1:04 am Klaudia threw the van into reverse. "What are you doing?" Cathy shrieked, clearly starting to panic. "Einfahrt," Klaudia said. "What?" "Enter. We're going out the enter." The van skidded to an abrupt halt, then lurched forward again as Klaudia threw the transmission back into drive. Rob watched the armoured personnel carrier's machine gun bob and weave as it tracked their every move. If the soldiers on board decided to open fire... "They're not shooting," he said. "What?" Cathy said, holding on to the door frame for balance as Klaudia brought the van skidding around a corner onto the entrance ramp. "They're not shooting. They want us alive." The armoured personnel carrier roared to life as its crew suddenly realised what the spellcasters were up to. Fumes poured from its engine as it lumbered clumsily back up the exit ramp. There was a loud bang from the car park behind them. Rob spun to see a dozen armour-clad soldiers pouring out of the stairwell. The fog in the garage was clearing. There were shouts of "halt!" and "hexen!", and a few of the soldiers even aimed their weapons at the rear of the van, but none of them opened fire. "They definitely want us alive," Rob said. "They won't get us," Cathy said, flicking her wand in their direction. There was a bright flash, and the heavily-armoured soldiers burst into flames. Holy crap, Klaudia thought, watching the scene through the rear-vision mirror. Those men are melting. There was another bright light, this time ahead of them. The van plunged into the fog at the top of the entrance ramp... And came face-to-face with a tank coming the other way.
