Description
Volume II - Episode 6
Where: Cologne, Germany
When: 1 month and 5 days after E-Day, 1:06 am
They were two city blocks from Krystal Beaufort's apartment building. The tank had vanished into the distance behind them. The van picked up speed.
Klaudia's heart swelled. After all those weeks trapped inside a tiny bedroom, she was finally outside. She was finally free!
And then the eerie luminescent fog grew thicker. Rob began to wheeze and cough, and then Klaudia began to cough as well. She felt the fog claw its way down her windpipe.
A strange, strangled gasp came from Klaudia's right. Cathy slumped in her seat. In the back seat, Rob gasped and chocked and clutched at his throat, desperate for breath. And then he slumped, too.
Klaudia felt the world close in around her. Every breath was agonising. She felt herself growing weary with the strain. Her eyelids began to droop.
Outside the van, the fog pressed in against the windscreen. She could see no more than a couple of metres ahead of her.
The second armoured personnel carrier came out of nowhere.
One moment, Klaudia could see nothing ahead but fog; the next moment, the enormous metal hull of the 25-tonne war machine came into view. It sat stationary in the middle of the road, blocking their path.
She slammed on the brakes, but it was too late. She gazed in terror as the Hexenjägern logo raced towards her windscreen.
And then it was all over.
There was a loud metallic screech. The front of the van exploded in a blur of sparks and twisted metal. Pain shot up her legs. The windscreen shattered, showering her in broken glass.
Something heavy flew by her right shoulder - Rob, it was Rob - and then her face slammed into the driver's side airbag. She felt her nose break. Hot blood squirted from her nostrils. She gave one last cough, groaned loudly, then slipped into a deep and troubled unconsciousness.
And it was there, slumped against the blood-soaked airbag of the bright blue minivan, that the Hexenjägern captured her.

One day I will follow it.

I´m curious how this would end up. I like your style. (pssst.... "the Hexenjägern" is wrong. It´s "the Hexenjäger". plural and singular are equal in this case.)
