Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Now that is very cool! I have not seen one of these before! Excellent capture and the DOF is wonderful as well! Great lighting, my Friend!

I like this Andrea. Great vanishing point, it looks to be about 300 foot long :)
Celart
Great POV.

Well seen, great capture.

Yep that would be tough to carry down the street and explain to the scrap dealer where you got it. Excellent shot!

I wouldn't be surprised if the thieves came back with a huge saw... Interesting shot. Aloha

fascinating !

I tried hard to see what that is inside but had to give up. I spent about 15 minutes with someone on the bird count this morning.

This is Big Brother. I am offline....for the moment!

Great pov! Fancy there being things inside the pole. I never considered it before! The little blue drink parasol is a terrific touch!!
kaward
It looks sooooo long! If you could pick it up it wouldn't go around and corners without knocking walls down!

Fooled me with the parasol part of your title until I zoomed and noticed the blue mixed drink parasol. These old eyes thought is was a morning glory. I did like the FlickR version because of all that was going on in the background.

GREAT CAPTURE

Oh dear, dear, dear, I was expecting a big beach umbrella atop a coastline cliff in this one. Really had me fooled. As for this particular shot, terrific POV employed in displaying the antiquated old pole as it disappears into the distance, along with everything else beside it.

These kids today are just plain lazy! In my day we would have brought saws and cut it into pieces. And what is a cocktail parasol doing there? (just practicing being a grumpy old man)
MrsRatbag
The parasol is quite a striking counterpoint! Someone's drink is now seriously lacking... Excellent capture of this long, long, LONG pole! Wonder what the writing on the paper inside says?

Oh look, the Wee Folk have been here and left their wee parasol behind! I can't imagine why they left it behind, they are usual very careful about littering. Interesting how endless this pole looks in comparison to the other view, just a little different angle makes all the difference! This end is a bit more interesting, one can see it's innards. The other end looks a bit sad what with wires hanging unconnected ...

Not the average photo one sees! Cool!

With the parasol in rather suspicious proximity to the pole, I am now beginning to wonder if the pole's condition might be due to a bit of fruity-drink consumption. OK...I actually doubt that the two are connected, but one never knows. What an unexpected shot. Funny that when one goes looking for birds, one finds cryptic things. I love the vanishing perspective here, too...that pole goes on forever! Now as for scrap metal thieves...well...it just looks like they weren't ambitious enough: I can export a few Chicago-metal-vultures if you want them. They're downright creative. It's amazing what they can fit into a pickup truck, it's bit scary figuring out how they get some of that stuff into their pickup trucks as well. They'd have no problem with this; they'd probably fit it in the glove compartment, just to keep competitors from seeing it and absconding with their prize pole.

That is one tall pipe or what ever it is but yea we have thieves here if it's not ancored down they steal it.
jendellas
That is unusual, maybe they will be back :o)
Katraz
I'm sure the metal thief's are working on it.

Great capture, Andrea - the other end (and shot) looks also great!! :o)
