Description
Following yesterdays Lynx post, Michael ( T-Rex) left a comment that included "Looking at the door I wonder how big it is and how many passengers it can take."
The top image should give an idea of the size. As this was at the top of the gangway as we boarded HMS Edinburgh it was never going to be clear for a pic. The Army version carries 8 fully kitted out soldiers but the Navy have other ideas. With a crew of 2 or 3, the Navy Lynx carries 2 Torpedoes or Depth charges or 4 Sea Skua Missiles externally. As for passengers.....only one, he's American and goes by the name of John M Browning, he's a big lad! The middle image, that's him, his correct title is Browning AN/M3M .50 calibre heavy machine gun. The bottom image was my determination to get a photo with no 'bods' in it, I'm just glad cut backs haven't led to lower quality safety netting around the flight deck, I did lean out quite a way!!!..
Now I don't usually go in for.... nor approve of .....'blonde jokes' but occasionally you have to wonder. In the top image, left of center you'll see a Naval officer and the pilot of this 'copter' in the green flight suit. Left again is a.......blonde. As I moved in to get the picture of 'Mr Browning', the blonde asked the pilot "is that a gun ?" :-0
The pilot answered with a grin "yes....I think that qualifies!!"......high 5 that man...... My answer would have been "No love, it's a hair drier, care to try it" :-)
I can't recommend zooming this, they are quite large photos, the top one a 2 frame pano, so Auntie Rendo required 33% compression, even after halving the size :-(

Had to laugh at the end of the commentary. Nice shot!

Oh, MAN! Thanks for the dedi! This "fly" sure has some serious "pea shooters". I sure wouldn't want to tangle with it! I can see place for 4 men (middle image), but, with torpedo or/and depth charges I see there's not enough "room" (carrying capacity) for more than 2 or 3 med and Mr. Browning's hair drier! Though cramped on a ship's deck, you've done very well getting these photos of the helecopter. If a picture is worth 1,000 words, these 3 have sure answered all my queries about this craft, but your commetary has also added a good bit! Thanks again for taking me up on this! The poor blonde has probably never seen a gun before, considering the disarming of citizens in the UK and gun confiscations. Makes one wonder when the military's guns will be confiscated? Keep up the good work, Neil! This was a very pleasant surprise! (PS - I've posted a Poser image for Froggy, if you're interested.)

Well that's one passenger you'd appreciate having in times of trouble. As for the blonde, well at least he didn't try to impress her with tales of his mighty weapon ;)
