Greetings to the people of Earth.
I've always wanted to say that! Now that I did, I can now get on with other things.
I'm a science fiction writer (not famous yet) born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. I've lived in the Czech Republic and Germany, and though I am currently back in Chicago, much of my heart remains in the Czech Republic. Maybe it's the beer. Or the bread. I hope to live in Moscow soon, as a big portion of my heart already resides there. I've had an interest in science fiction since an early age and will probably maintain that interest for the rest of my life. I love SF, and anything else that embraces the spirit of discovery...or anything that chafes against the arbitrary boundaries of "conformity."Â
I discovered Renderosity a couple of years back when I was browsing the internet, looking for cool images to spark my imagination during a period of writer's block. It wasn't a serious block, but I needed something to make me ask the sorts of questions that I always ask before settling down to craft a short story or novella. Since that time, I've written quite a lot and I've begun to post photographs and other visual works that I created here...partially because I love the Renderosity community in general, and partially because the images and text-snippets that I have contributed here are something of an ongoing journal. I'm incredibly lazy when it comes to journal keeping, and so posting picures of particular significance actually helps me to remember the things I want to remembe, without having to eat into my fiction writing time by writing non fiction. Well, at least that's my excuse and I am sticking with it.
I entered into the field of photography totally by accident; I'd always been interested in capturing small stories, but it wasn't until my journey to Europe that I began to consciously seek out tableaus that imply stories in progress. As a result of that, my writing is growing in unexpected directions, and I look forward to becoming more and more active here, and in other artistic/publishing fields.
For those looking at my gallery, enjoy it and feel free to leave comments and sitemail! Good day to all!

This photo has the unique ability to captivate the eyes and mind, mainly due to the presentation. To point, try to focus on a part of the photo and your eyes are drawn to other parts; and so it goes

Nice Work,

Actually captivated my brain to figure out exactly what it is. On zoom I can see like droplets. You and your writing always have me wondering and thinking.

I'm sure you probably say in your narrative what it is, but I don't want to know, so I didn't read it. What I see right away is an alien spaceship and I don't want to ruin it by knowing. I think this is the coolest one you have so far. This is just awesome.

SUPERLATIVE WORK

Yes, I would have been captured by the pattern of water bubbles too; fascinating find and excellent shot, Chip!

Nice photo, it's both abstract and a bit surreal, especially interesting because at the moment I'm looking at this I'm listening to Brian Eno (specifically, his prophecy theme from "Dune") which oddly works well with this photo of yours.

I also find photographic subjects while at work. I don't take my camera though. I work as a mechanic and see many cars that would be great for a subject. However I do not think the owners would like me taking pictures of their cars while I am working on them lol But I enjoy seeing the many different and interesting photos that you post with your stories to go along with them. Thanks for sharing!

Wow. There's so much DEPTH to this, especially considering it's pretty thin! I probably wouldn't have seen this as a photographic subject, but I love what YOU saw and how you presented it. VERY cool!

Oh my gosh, plastic? really? I had to download it to my desktop, flip it this way and that, make it HUGE and examine it and I STILL don't see plastic. I see the interior portions of some strange space vehicle, some exotic never heard of metalic type of material, the depth in this is phenomenal .. giving it even more of a space vehicle feel .. this is the most amazing photo I have ever seen! No, it just can't be plain old plastic. By the way, I like it turned on it's end, with the right side at the top, grins.

Quite creative, and a wonderful photo, Chip!

Clever of you to even see this, let alone make such an image!

So many photographers concentrate only on the object (me included) and pay only faint head to others subjects such as texture, light, color, contrasts, lines and layers that are often at least as worthy of interest as any object itself. The other day I found a wrecked bicycle helmet on the street and spent a good 15 minutes shooting it and trying to make a story without moving it from its place of rest. Who would have known this was plastic wrap and frankly, who should really care? There is texture, there is contrast, there is implied movement, any are worthy of interest and are in fact more interesting than a piece of used plastic wrap!

Superb capture my friend. God bless.

I can see what drew you to this although I would have no idea what it was without your explanation. So much of your macros look alien. I can see two faces at bottom center. More aliens perhaps?

I did try to see for a while what it could be, but I gave up. I am glad to see the title, Now I can sleep peaceful tonight :))) I did wonder what it could be. It is a really fine abstract. :)
