Description

Well I've been covering Tech shifts while one of the lads is off sick, another has been on holiday. This left the Chief Tech 'Len' and myself to cover the last 9 days. With a day and a night shift to cover we do 3 days then 3 nights 3 days etc....This creates a rather unpleasant 'break point' resulting in a night shift followed by a day shift....for various operational reasons I did 1pm - Midnight yesterday and was back in at 08:00am this morning....was I perky ? was I s^%t!!!. However, not opening till 10:00am it takes 30 minutes to clean and dress the lanes and nothing more to do. Through the bar window I saw the Celebrity X Cruise ship 'Celebrity Infinity' arriving. So outside I went and got some snaps, this looked big as it approached the lighthouse but it's when you see the people on deck (right of the funnel) that you appreciate just how big....while shooting this I heard the familiar thump of rotars. Now I should point out it was the 10k Charity run through the Mersey Tunnel this morning which ended further up the prom. I assumed the 'chopper' was the local Police 'eyeball' and didn't bother turning around. I then realised it didn't sound right and turning saw the lower image. Royal Navy Lynx's, a long way off and presenting that dilemma, close zoom for detail or not so much for coverage. I settled on this to record the extraordinary sight of 5 Lynx's but there were in fact 8 of them in loose formation. As with my previous Commando Sea Kings, I don't know where they came from and again they just flew out into the Irish Sea. There are no Warships in port and none due that I'm aware of.....a great mystery!...I just hope the 'Company' don't find out what they're paying me for :-)

Unlike Carnival, Celebrity appears to keep its ships powered and not on fire!!!!

As one who used to work the night shifts I know how you feel mate. Stunning captures Neil, all of them and my fav has to be the Lynx's. So many in one go... what a sight to behold :)

Hey Neil! I just got back (an empty-handed) patrol of guys from Thunderr's Vogel Zwei unit. They had been sneaking around sharecg looking for to nab a Do 335, without success. When will it show up there from the plant? Just so I can in advance post a guard on it so my guys get it before Thunderr's Vogel Eins get around to it! Now ain't that a confusing situation? :-)
