Description

Beside the path on the hike down to the Spruce Tree House Cliff Dwelling. Mesa Verde, Colorado. Late April, 2013 I loved the shape of the tree against the cliff face. What an amazing place!

Been there, seen that. The rocks almost look varnished in the right light.

A wonderful mix of light and textures. And that tree, definitely wild and untamed.

I can imagine that tree at night full of unidentified creatures of uncertain benignity!

I love trees, and Wow! this is gorgeous! I love everything about it! The light, patterns, and warm golden color of the cliff face is beautiful in its own right. I love the way the lines of the cliff slant too, mostly in opposite direction from the trees. The diagonal line of the trees erupting into a wealth of finer branches, some with a silvery light, is marvelous! Beautiful!

A fine abstract that evokes the feel of Mesa Verde without being overly explicit about it. Very different from my own images of Mesa Verde, which tended to focus mostly on the large picture & overlooked opportunities like this. The one minor nit I have is that I would have liked to have seen a little less dense section of tree & more eroded rock, but maybe that's just personal preference...
