Description
When the FW 190 "Wurger" first appeared in 1941, it was better than anything the RAF had available. The response was the Spitfire Mk.IX.
The FW 190 A8 pictured is a reproduction built by Flug Werks. It's in the markings of "White 11" flown by ObLt Georg Schott of 1/JG.
The Spitfire Mk.IX was restored from a well-used example that saw action throughout WWII, and also served in Israel. It's in the markings of Sqn. Commander George Silvester (DFC) of RAF 32 SQN. Both aircraft are owned by the Military Aviation Museum in Virginia.
Once again, photos from the CWH airshow last weekend. The 190 flew the day I was there, but the Spitfire was grounded by a mechanical failure - doubly unfortunate since she was also set to fly as part of an all-Merlin formation.
More to come!

Wow, that's "some" propeller on the 190...blades any broader than that and it would be a ship's propeller

OK, I see that the Fw190 is an A-8, my bad for not digging back further. Excellent Montage of the two adversary's!
