My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

Not a bad starting point.

A very nice starting point!

It's a great starting point! That's a very pretty petunia and a lovely portrait of it :)

Nothing wrong with a potted petunia! If I even had that, I would happily call it a garden, LOL!

That looks like the one with the sultry smell...well, the pic is sultry anyhow!

beautifully marked, beautiful simplicity

Watch the 2.8 setting when it doesn't cover the flower completely to get a sharper image. The background can always be adjusted with the sliders to darken the background and lighten the flower to get more contrast!
monjo71
A very well composed image.

Great balanced image. Beautiful shot, DOF and low light control. Brava

Nice macro. Perfectly exposed.

Nicely done, good clarity on the beautiful veining on the petunia; the 50 is a great and very fun lens. Don't just limit yourself to flowers, try it on everything and see what kind of results you get!

I love these little funnels in many colors. Like small gramophones! they play the melody of life! A wonderful capture with a light bokeh!

Excellent, you will find as honey says above that it has a good selection of subjects. When Dee came over last year, we went on a nifty 50 day out, nothing but one body and a 50mm lens. These are great for such things like door knobs and letter boxes etc. You may recall a wrought iron gate I shot with shadows? All that day we had fun going back to the roots of photography. And as I am sure you will know, being a prime lens, it's going to be very very sharp :)

A beauty with nice DOF & strong contrast between the bright flower & the dark, muted background...

All your flowers make me envious, so I went out and bought some for the porch. They started dieing almost immeadiatley.
