Description

The description of the venerable McDonnell-Douglas F-4 Phantom II sounds like an aircraft procurement person's Swiss knife dream. It is described as "a tandem, two-seat, twin-engine, all-weather, long-range supersonic jet interceptor fighter/fighter-bomber" with practical use as a stable reconnaissance platform that can be jointly used by the Navy, Marines, and Air Force. It can fly mach 2.2 and is capable of carrying 18,000 pounds of weapons. From 1959 it garnered 15 world records including the absolute speed and altitude records. It left service in the late 1990's in the US, and with over 5,000 produced , it is still in front line service in many countries. I tried a number of new things (to me) in this render. First of all, I wanted some more specific F-4's to work with. So with my limited modeling skills, I wrestled Bazze's F-4 into a creditable F-4B with more possibilities. Pimped and polished, so to speak. The most daunting task was texturing, and more to come. I've also been trying to come up with a way to texture and bump a reasonable looking forest or jungle carpet and I like this one so far. Why the idea popped into my head to use a pic of sorghum as a base for a bump image, I'll never know, but there it is. McDonnell Douglas F4 Phantom II: Free by Bazze at colacola.se with many modifications and retex. Pilots: Daz M3 Gear: Here and there and Billy-t's Flight crew gear. Extra bits (ejection seat, weapon stores, and mods from here and there and from the slab in my basement lab. C4d 6XLCE+,Poser7, Vue6Infinite,PS Cs3

Now that is damn hot!!! Great work on the re-model and texturing, I'm a big fan of Bazze's F-4 and you've tweeked it to great effect. Not sure what 'sorghum' is but looks a bit like Broccoli....whatever, the effect is striking...another dynamic aerial treat, bravo sir!! 10/10+

I always preferred the "smoke-belching barn-door" as an apt description (LOL). Really nice dramatic shot of a very cool aircraft.
