Description

Third in a series ... From the bottom up, you're seeing Moenkopi, Chinle, and Wingate Sandstone, all Triassic formations. Way up in the back is a bit of Kayenta and Navajo just to tease you. Those are Jurassic formations. You're looking at a cross section of rock that was laid down between 250 million years ago and 190 million years ago. I promise there won't be a test! I've probably gone too far for most of you, just giving you that much information! LOL!

I have to say it is a great relief about the test.. Mind boggling numbers, and a very interesting photo.

No problem. Always up for a cross section of the earth. I wonder what critters might be found embedded in the layers.

The thought of trying to climb up there makes me feel like I am from the Jurassic Age. Nice shot!

Very lovely. BTW, for most of us a description of 'pretty red and white rock' is about all we can handle.

Beautiful Tara. I love the way you use that terminology. Haven't heard those terms since I quit working!

Yeah, my head's about to explode as it is..... :-D Absolutely spectacular, Tara! These landscapes are so fascinating, especially when you consider the eons represented by these layers.
