This was a most difficult shoot: I took several shots of this, studied and compared, and worked hard to capture the gaping feel of that pier. It was a challenging subject, but I hope you like it...
I only started commenting tonight, but I'll get to all of you while I'm here.
I wish you all a terrific Friday,
Mark

Beautifully captured. The reflections are superb and the perspective just draws one in. Perfect vibrancy and contrast too. In fact, just made it my wallpaper for now :)

Absolutely fabulous. You have cracked all the problems! And, thankyou for that HILARIOUS fly joke, I am still giggling!

Mark, first of all allow me to say how thrilled I was to see you had uploaded a new image today. This photo really is something special and I can see why it was so difficult to find just the right angle to capture this pier. Your title for this photo was perfect, and I love the way this pier seems to go on forever.

Glad you weren't suck into that huge gaping maw! I love the high-key feel of this shot, and how very small and insignificant the people seem against this long, long, long stretch of pier...excellent work!

A grand shot with great pov. Seems like someone could walk or fall right off the edge of that pier, and it makes me think of all the stories that long stretch of concrete and steel could tell.

WOW! it is a HUGE mouth of a smiling baleen whale :-) I do love the looong perspective in this shot. The beautiful reflections in the water and the sunny light too. Looks very tranquil. :)

WOW Mark. you really made this scene come alive and at the same time it;s a moment frozen in time.Your photos are really different...you turn them into a play,I definetly see the musican in you in them, you can't just look at them and look away because it's almost like they are about to change and you wait for something.....magnificant capture !!!

It is long. I think I see a safety step ladder just in case someone should fall in...but it looks pretty hard to get back up. Interesting shot. Aloha

THE LINES OF THE WALL WISH TO RUSH BY BUT THE BOTTOM PATTERN STOPS THE ACTION SOME WHAT. THEN YOU NOT THE PEOPLE ON TOP AND THEY STOP THE ACTION OF THE LONG LINES TOO. LOVE THE GIRL SITTING THERE.

MARVELOUS WORK

I think you nailed it! I have the feeling that if I looked at this picture long enough, the pier and lake would interact and move and swallow Chicago. Not in a Cockroach-That-Ate-Cincinnati sort of way ... more like the natural progression of things, something happening that's fitting and right. I hope it holds off for at least a few years, because I love Chicago and want to come back and find it intact! :)

I love the leading lines in this, and there seems to be a story here the girl on the cell phone and the boy with the bike, you wonder do they meet years later and never know they at one time crossed paths. I always wonder things like that with friends I know. Sort of like the scene in you've got mail where they keep crossing paths and then later meet each other and fall in love. Nice work
