------------- Tales of the Silver Gryphon – Fontana
It was a simpler time, not so long ago. Around 18521 on the Gailen calendar, in the city of Carellon, there came together a band of adventurers. Their leader was a daughter of the great Chairman of the Shipping Guild. Her sister was also there, and her sister’s church guardian, a Frelenat Warrior-Priestess from the Deep Desert. A Drow Weaponsmater there was as well, and the daughter of the Baron of Gryphonmyr. They had many adventures and traveled the length and breadth of the kingdom of Carellon. In time they lost compatriots, and gained others. On their way back through the great southern pass, Tanner’s Pass, bridging the Western Barrier Mountains from the Holy Symballan Empire in the east, to the plains of Carellon in the west, they encountered two more who would become their most steadfast and dedicated.
In times past, the Inquisitors of the Church of Carellon were shunned and feared for the swift and merciless justice they brought. But as ages passed, and the light of a different way began to creep into the minds of man, new ways were adopted. The Inquisitors became investigators, traveling the vast regions of the kingdom to right wrongs, to ferret out the guilty, and to always strive to seek the truth. A special breed, even amongst those, were the Exorcists, Inquisitors who job it was to find and reveal the presence of dark forces, demons and undead of great power. Into these ranks came one of the most unlikely of recruits, a young, innocent, bubbly blonde girl named Fontana of Meldincourte.
Fontana had been assigned a Knight of the Realm as her assistant and guardian. They had several adventures of their own before chance brought them to an inn, a way station between Tanner’s Peak, Carellon and Kibern, HSE. On that fateful night, they were entertained by a young raven haired vixen, a beauty like only one who had come before her. Amanda Aeriel Hayes was there that night, and saw in the two travelers something they themselves had denied and would not face. Amanda sang and danced, and within her song, a spell was woven. The entire tavern fell upon one another, and an unbridled, unfettered orgy ensued. The next morning, Sister Fontana and Sir Tarlik Harrahvius woke up in Amanda’s bed. But Amanda had had her fun and commanded that the two of them see what they had had right in front of themselves all along, each other. She only rarely shared their bed after that, yet Tarlik and Fontana became a love the likes of which people dream but never find.
And Fontana of Meldincourte? She traveled for many years, fought many battles beside her new friends, the Silver Gryphon, and never lost her innocence, despite the evils she faced. In time, she and Tarlik were married. They had a son. They gained station and title, and their son became the new Baron of Gryphonmyr. Unlike her friends, Amanda and Tabitha and Nahlima, Fontana had no desire to fight the inevitable battle of age. She and Tarlik grew old together, and died together peacefully in each others arms. But long before that, in days of wonder, when the truth of the new world was fresh and secrets of technology and paratechnology and off-world invaders were still secret to most people, they had such adventures,…
