Description

Ninth of nine in a series. The cliffs of Capitol Reef are imposing and amazing, but the Waterpocket Fold puts the rest to shame. You can learn more about it HERE Edit note: Bugatti was right to question the line of clouds! My good friend and weather expert, Sig (junge1), explained why the bottom of the clouds are always horizontal. He said, "The base of the clouds is the line where the air has become saturated and it can no longer hold the given moisture in suspension and it becomes dew, or clouds. I would assume that that temperature line is pretty even (horizontal) regardless of the terrain below it." Thanks, Sig! I know I can always count on you for the right answer. (Even though it means my picture is six degrees off horizontal! LOL!)

That's where a lot of the really good hiking is! Didn't take the time to explore or get many photos when I went through. Sure glad you did!

"...erosion has exposed this fold at the surface 'ONLY' within the last 15 to 20 million years." Kind of puts things into perspective! I have remarked before how I wish all this info and great photos had been around when i was doing A level geography.

Very nice pano and view ... But I am a bit confused about the slant, clouds line should be horizontal I suppose ....
