Description

Todays sculpture and post: 'DEGREES of SEPARATION' by: Mike Van Dam, from QLD (Queensland, Australia) made with: 4mm 316 marine grade stainless steel chain. his own words: 'The chain in this sculpture represents the links people have with each other and their surroundings. Random acts of kindness, extreme acts of violence, we can choose these behaviours but we can never foresee how far they will affect others, their friends, families, their future. For every action there is a chain reaction.' *** I went back one evening, to experience the night time lighting versions - you'll see both results here, but because of the way it was lit, I had to compromise the different views ... Cheers Brigitte ;)

I love this sculpture! It makes total sense. (Sometimes they don't! LOL!) It's one I'd love to see in person. Thanks for the day and night views. You went above and beyond the call of duty for this duo!

Wonderful captures! The little girl and the 'innocence' is touching the message of the sculpture. The artist gives a good message. Thank you, for sharing!

Two fantastic photo's, BB-chen, what a glow is on the steal, this really is a fest for the eye. I like the shadow of that little girl, which one can see on zoom in the top-one. The night sculpture even glows more, with that nice green touch in the middle of it. Hope things are well with you, dear friend!

I like the fact that there are two POVs - it adds more depth to the object in that we see more of it

I like both versions and then both POVs too! Mike is a talented artist. Looking at your collage and the skyline in the background - I am now 1,588 miles (2,556 km) closer to OZ. Pretty cool eh!!!!!

How warped tires or snakes. A wonderful structure and sculpture that tickle the imagination. The extraordinary diversity of ideas at a festival are always appealing and foster your own creativity! Hugs, your Julchen

Very cool captures! Wonderful sculpture. It's very interesting to read the artist's words. I like the three profiles in the first image. I'm not sure what the middle profile is. Whether it is a shadow or the stroller appearing as a profile, but whatever it is, it really works well with the profile of the child, and the one of the adult sitting down by the tree. They add a feeling of mystery and connectedness which go well with the intent of the work. I like the little girl staring through and interacting very physically with the piece. The evening shot is beautiful. I love the way it shimmers. It's really interesting to see them both.
