Description

I moved a black plastic bag to discover this nursey of tiny millipede babies, who then had to hastily make an escape. I love that one with its head down the bore hole! These are Blaniulus guttulatus, the Red-Spotted Millipede, a pest species. The red spots are stink glands which produce an unpleasant fluid to repel predators. Another image Here

A fascinating capture Andrea, sometimes by just lifting a bag or a pot a surprise can take place, I'm sure you had to be quite fast to capture this scene.

Yes, and the other looking down into the crack :-) Wonderful shot, that I wish Chipka could see.

I like the one with its head in the hole, along with the s-shaped one next to it. Those two alone would tell a terrific story! :)

What a handsome bunch of millipedes in this exquisite pic, Andrea. It seems like they are attempting to form some kind of message in a Middle Eastern language prior to crawling for cover.

A horde of swarming critters! Chip would love this, wonder where he's been? Great capture of your unintended tenants!

Babies, yes, but not exactly the cuddly kind. Wonderful detail in this image. It seems you interrupted their party.

When I first spotted the thumbnail - I immediately thought of some old Egyptian hieroglyphs or some secret language code, saying: 'please, don't eat us alive' ... ;P cool find, birdies would love to feast on this smorgasbord, BB (my thoughts on Chip - he must have fallen in love ;))
