Description
Over a span of two months, 12/2/12 to 1/29/13, I took a total of 205 photos of leaves of various varieties showing them lying on the ground, in the slow process of colorful decay. And that doesn't even include the 26 that I snapped during that period, casting long shadows on the sidewalk. The pic above was captured 12/2/12, early morning, I believe at a local park.
Arrivederci.

It's beautiful, Harry; I always get mesmerized by piles of leaves, with their endless display of shape and colour. Makes getting anywhere a slow process! Excellent shot of these golden lovelies!

Having just commented on your "Leaves #8," this, by comparison, is a more densely populated neighborhood. More crammed stuff, more congestion---some of the qualities native to leaf-piles. (A friend used to say "leaf piles" were hemorrhoids for leaves...) And a layer underneath of darker leaves, giving it a darker feel. I mean, when you're studying form, texture and color, a darker under-layer becomes another piece of art. And we can see the wet portions too, where the leaves morph into a---what---slippery purple slime. So in a pile like this, the yellows become "highlights," little "triumphs". I'm not exaggerating with these terms! Also, the striated edges are very visible, as if they're cutting into the pile...Another fine portrait in this series, this one more congested and very rich. I love the variety you get with these.

Beautiful colors and textures. The lighting is gorgeous. I love the way it outlines the edges and puts a polished luster to surfaces. Wonderful clarity. I find myself identifying favorite leaves. (Like the one in the bottom leaf corner with five prominent veins going out from its stem and the center one, which seems ready to dance.) I see a sweet gum ball hiding among the leaves. There are many wonders hiding here. Sections where serrated edges are layered on top of each other. Other areas where leaves arch up to form a cave like entrance. Gorgeous image! Beautiful in its entirety with wonderful details to explore.
