the brave professionals who keep our community safe.
Captured 10/24/13, early on an overcast morning, across the spacious lawn from our City Hall, exactly 1.27 miles from home.
Shown from left to right, we have the Public Safety Officer, Firefighter, Sheriff Deputy (yes, we do have female cops, and a lot of them) and Highway Patrol Officer (I hate bow ties on police officers, it makes them look so dorky).
It took me three trips before I came away satisfied, or at least semi satisfied, with the tons of photos I took of this intrepid group. Since they are facing north, the sun never shines on their front, so not much lighting there, which forced me to use fill-in flash, that had absolutely no effect. I think that the flash on my American model Tizzy is out of sync with my camera. Hence, I had to digifiddle these pics to the Nth degree to achieve any sort of acceptable brightness and contrast.
And, in contrast to my fountain sculptures, there were no trespassing restrictions placed around this setting, so I was able to click away with complete impunity.
One of the things I like about photographing sculptures is that they never move around and fidget, or ham it up.

What a lovely commemorative sculpture! We have a lot of female police officers and firefighters too. You did well with the lighting being what it is, it must be your postwork that rescues it so nicely. There are so many fine details to be seen on these statues, and all are clearly visible in your shots. Well done, my friend!

A very nice collage depicting our local government professionals. Go figure, for what we pay them they should'nt be standing around like a bunch of statues. Ha Ha. Great postwork!
