Captured 1/2/13, early morning, in one of our local parks.
Not knowing whether this applied to domestic honey bees or to the deadly Africanized Killer variety, I felt that in this case, discretion was the better part of valor, so, with none of my bravado trespassing attempted this time, I turned around and walked away, in order to live and photograph another day.
The problem was soon solved, and that section of the park was reopened.
Shalom.

Maybe it was message directed at the need? At any rate, fun shots of this anomaly. I am trying to type this on my phone as I sit in the airport lounge, so I apologize for the brevity and any misspellings.

Whoa. Smart move on your part. I've never run into such a thing but I have read all about the killer bees and wouldn't want to provide myself for a target either. Fascinating subject well captured.

A wild hive on my property that had coexisted with us for years became "africanized" this spring. They are no picnic; they even chased us into the house and stung us there. Luckily, there is an exterminator in our area that specializes in that type of bee.
