Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Yeah it's interesting. No offence to any LV residents here, but I hated all the casinos etc. But when I got into the great outdoors....they had some seriously good deserts to explore!

A very surreal image, especially the upper right hand section. Excellent capture.

Curiouser and curiouser! I should hate that place.

LOL Many residents of Las Vegas never go to the strip where all the casinos are located. It is an interesting place in many ways. I love the Chihuly glass installation in the Belagio and the fountains in front of that same hotel. Glamour, art and fantastic architecture are side by side with seedy, dirty and a bit scary areas. This is an excellent shot. Thanks for sharing your impressions

Las Vegas is a world unto itself, that's for sure. It can be fun for a quick stay, but I can't imagine living there. Great shot!

I know where you took this. I like how you stepped back from the glass to get those reflections - including a shadowy selfie.

Looks like a busy place to relax any.... Aloha

Neato night shot of Las Vegas in all of its neon glory, Marilyn. All of the money lost in gambling goes to pay the electric bill.

What a great shot! I like the real and the reflection and the implications. Nicely done! :) It's on my list ... I haven't been there since the early 80s, and I know it's totally different now than it was nearly 30 years ago! LOL! A purely photographic tour ... gambling isn't of much interest to me ... but wow ... so much to see!!

I just got in, marilyn, so will only do one for now, but i wanted to visit your gallery at least once before the holidays are upon us. This is a terrific image, I love the combo of real with reflected, and the forward-direction of some of the signs, and the backward of others (reflected from behind, I assume), and the clutter and glow. The strange hues caused by the reflected surface make the "vegas" part of it all the more palpable, as that city is a kind of strange dream in the desert. It also climaxes about 2/3 of the way towards the right, with a big confluence of lights---and your head, lol! There you are, the photographer! (I'd recognize that hair anywhere!) (Well I ASSUME that's you---if it's not, then Vegas is being invaded by a reeeeealllly big person. I love that head, and all the better because it's---I hope---yours!) You have the eye for these scenes, they're just you; and you do them with a total intuitive sense---you just see it and you take it, and it's always right. I'll be back for more after the holidays, but had to stop here now. I hope your holidays are wonderful, and ditto your new year! And thanks for your wonderful comments and feelings in my gallery, they mean the world to me (as you know). Happy holidays!!! I love this image.
