Tall trees grab our attention, but I believe there is beauty to be found in the patterns, colors & textures on the forest floor as well...

I agree. This sort of scene, with everything left where it fell, has a sense of peacefulness that tall trees don't have. (I've nothing against tall trees, of course, but they produce a different sort of emotion.) This is lovely with the moss, the leaves, and the strong line the fallen tree provides.
