Description

This waterhole in the Kgalagadi is "protected" by two resident jackals. The one on the right is one of the residents and the older gal on the left came for a drink. The younger male attacked her and although I was terribly upset by it, I soon realized that it was way more "bark than bite". After kicking up dust and trying to intimidate her, he backed off and she drank water in peace. She then hung around and they left her be! This is the kind of sightings that make me stay at a waterhole for hours because if you just stop by and leave if there is nothing happening at that moment, you miss these interactions that are priceless. Thank you for stopping by and for your very welcome comments and favs on my last upload "Cuteness". Carin xx

Mercy sakes alive, it's like an episode from the National Geographic site! Wonderful photo, Carin!
