Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

I bet they would soon open their eyes if you mentioned 'walkies'. Lovely shot.

A real cute capture Andrea, I wonder what dog's dream about?, probably some dreams are things that have taken place in the past as we do.

Hehe, I can't find the beginning or the end, Andrea. What to do now, where I have to start? Oh, now I see it, this are two of your nice-ones. (after reading the other comments) I thought only Rosie was laying here.

Lots of contrasting texture and deep color in this pic of your pampered pets, ensconced in the lap of luxury, as they catch some Zs, Andrea.

Andrea, I've been here 3 hours and this is my 12th comment, and I have to go for now. But I hope that at least you see how much I love your offerings, and how much I could sit here and write about them forever. I end with this not because there aren't a gazillion others I'm dying to do (I left "sorry" notes in about 30 locations, even though one shot said, "yeah right!"), but because it's such a wonderful ending for a session in your gallery. As a shot of dogs-in-dog-bliss, it's great. Few animals can look as totally absorbed as dogs when they're in rest. It's also a wonderful shot of textures and "feels": The flow of all that dog fur with the throw, the 3 types of fur, and the variations within Fritz's and Rosie's coat, themselves. And then the composition: The two heads moving into each other (linear-ly), and the gentle slope of the throw as it flows between them like a river. The swath of white on Rosie, which is a high accent to the piece. And the snippet of dark background on top---a beautifully composed shot, Andrea. You show your love of dogs in these shots, as you sure know their many sides; and this shot is filled with restful bliss. A big bow for all you do here, I'm sorry I don't comment more often, but you're one of 2 or maybe 3 artists who I give this much time to, when I do; and it's worth every second. Love this gallery. Hope it's getting warmer where you are---we had weeks of freezing temps with endless snow. You're in a far more temperate world than I am. In any case, hope all is well with you this cold wed morn!
