Description
An Amsterdam cityscape taken January 2013 from near the NEMO museum. I find Amsterdam to be a unique mixture of modern and old buildings businesses and lifestyles. It is an interesting city. I am currently reading a book, "Amsterdam" by Russell Shorto. What an amazing place with a huge role in world history.

It looks indeed interesting. Looks like my kind of city. I sure would like to see it in person. :) Wonderful capture here.

A fantastic view. I think at this point I was standing also some years ago. I like Amsterdam and have been there many times. Excellent shot!

I used zoom to view the older buildings - I love old architecture - I could not get over the size of the river barges - amazing photo to have all those things in one snap.

I zoom everything on RR, and images like this are the reason why. In full view, this shows your sense of contrast between the sharp hues (and blacks) of the foreground and mid-ground boats, with the more atmospheric (ie, faded) city behind it. The smoke from the smokestack really pulls that part of the shot into the whole; and it blends well with that modern glass-and-steel structure next to it. The rest is typically old European, mix of centuries of architecture; and it makes a beautiful varied backdrop. A big encompassing picture; and, because of those boats, it feels intimate and inviting all the same. A very sweet cityscape. You have a fine eye. I'll be back for more...

A wonderful composition. I love the beautiful cathedral on the left & the way the boats add vivid color to the foreground...
