Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

I hope you don't take this wrong way, but when I saw all the details in the reflections, I thought this was a 3D experiment. I was pleasantly surprised to find you did this with a camera. Nice work!

This is another amazing, high quality, advertisment-ready photo.....you really are a pro.

Love the bottles!!
MrsRatbag
What a marvelous bottle it has, and now I want to smell it. LOVE this shot!

This bottle reminds me of Bearings in a steel encasement. Something that fascinated me as a child.

A most original container I have seen for a perfume. LOL ! Beautiful shot.

I love the bottle! The apothecary weight design makes me think this is something important and serious. It has gravitas. This is a beautifully mysterious shot. Excellent work!

... and I have a very small one of this, not for every day ;-) great reflection of you in this!

I love these still life shots with the bottles.. regular shots and post work... this works well.
danapommet
It looks so much like the counter weights that were used to weigh things on an old fashion balance scale.

I don't do perfumes, but I think some of the bottles are fabulous! You make them even better with your awesome postwork!

Holy cow---both shots are wonderful. The flickr has presence and weight---I like Tara's observations here---but it's also graphically eaten up by black everywhere. Love how you fade it into the black and still keep the heft so present. (And you use lights so boldly.) This piece has very sharp edge work, emphasizing hard lines and contrasts; yet it still remains a unified, 'dark' image. You have been doing this long enough to get at the essence of each bottle's shape and presence; and you got this one's massivity---ala tara---beautifully. The strong light on Bulgari is also a great highlight. (And you have grain, which adds to the "gravitas" presence---as if it were carved from heavy stone.) Beautiful work, Andrea. (and btw, "It has a bitter-powdery, fresh rubber accord such as one encounters....while repairing a bicycle tyre puncture"??? I know fragrance descriptions---like wine or cognac descriptions---are very vivid, but is that last line really a turn-on? lol---I guess so! If it smells as bold as your images look, it's gotta be a knockout.)

I actually thought along the same lines as Dana, just like those amazing old weights - they used to use, I guess that tells my age as well, hmmm and that is ok ... and to continue with the words of Luca & Tania: 'Black is buzzing with brains' ... a very vibrant and striking looking shape and all that's left to do now, is to try it one day !
