Holy cow, both shots are beautiful, Andrea. I love Harry's "scrub brush" comment. The flickr one is all magical half-emergence, with that silky covering that looks like magic dust. This one---opened---is a big primal splayed brush, all curved and public, with all those little buds of yellow, and those long sprouty stems. It's a beauty; and your closeup reveals all the tentacles and fiberglass-y feeling, with that corn-slik-like fillament spread inside and on top. Really vital closeup, Andrea, and the two, as a unit, are visually quite exciting!

Now I'm really longing for spring and the Hollow .. We've tons of willow and what we've always called river willow and scrub willow .. and so lots of catkins .... beautiful captures .. both of them
