Description
Continuing with photos from our outing at the Los Angeles Arboretum, I thought I'd follow up the extravagantly colored peacock with one of the most extravagantly colored flowers. Commonly known as the bird of paradise, they belong to the genus Strelitzia & are native to South Africa...
Please zoom.

You never cease to amaze me with your talent for enhancing and tweaking photos to create such rich yet natural looking pictures. Even though I know you do it I still could be fooled into thinking you just have a talent with the existing natural lighting. :) Thanks for sharing.

Bee-yoo-tiful, Claude. Clarity and vividness, sharp-sharp contrasts, total presence in everything, and wonderful grained rich shadows: One of the best shots I've seen of this flower, and your composition lets the ultra orange "head-dress" stand out brilliantly from the rest. And your work with the blues and reds of the flower is stunning too. Great capture and postwork, this is a gem.

Wow, great contrast of colors and also tonality. I like how the leaves form a regular pattern and how the flower goes against the flow, further increasing the contrast between it and its background. Awesome sharpness especially as I am pretty sure you shoot pretty much hand held.

Very popular in south Florida but certainly not of the quality of this photo!
