Description
This large Queen Anne style house is located on the grounds of the Los Angeles Arboretum.
From Wikipedia:
"The Queen Anne Cottage and Coach Barn is a National Register of Historic Places structure and a California Historical Landmark on the grounds of the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden in Arcadia, California. It was placed on the Register in 1980 for its significance as an example of Queen Anne Style architecture and for the associated, largely intact Victorian landscape.
The Cottage was constructed in 1885-1886 for Elias Jackson "Lucky" Baldwin and his fourth wife, Lillie Bennett, the daughter of the Cottage's architect Albert A. Bennett. Upon E.J.'s death in 1909, his daughter Anita closed the Cottage and disposed of all furnishings. Some of the architectural elements of the Cottage, such as the stained glass windows, black walnut doors, and marble fireplace mantels were stored in the coach barn. The stored items were reinstalled in the Cottage during the 1951-1953 restoration.
The Cottage has been used for numerous films and television shows, most famously for the opening of Fantasy Island where the character of Tattoo can be seen ringing the bell in the cottage's tower and Mr. Roarke is seen exiting from it."
The first owner (Lucky Baldwin) was quite a colorful character & there is an extensive Wikipedia article on his life & achievements that is well worth checking out for anyone interested in California history...

Normally all that growth (and water) in front of a house would relegate it to a background curiosity; and then your vivid highlight-shadow work on the trees, and your highly clarified reflections in the water would also detract. Scintillating work with nature, here. But somehow, the house pulls me back---its white does, as well as its obvious architectural segmentations, "lacy" woodwork, etc. It calls us. So, fine work bringing both those worlds into harmony in this complex pic. The trees' verticals really cut the house up nicely, and that water is beautiful. A complex and scintillating shot.

A lovely photo through the trees and just enough blue sky filtering through the palm trees!
