Description
Captured 3/19/14, early morning, less than half a mile from my hallowed haven.
Although it appears I was kneeling or lying flat on my stomach when I snapped this pic, I wasn't. The door is situated at the top of a five-foot+ high concrete flight of stairs on the south wall of an elementary school building, so I was able to shoot it, in all of its venerable glory, while standing mostly erect from a sidewalk. Anyway, more testimony to my affinity for photographing anything of a blighted, corrosive, deteriorating, decadent, eroding, oxidizing or toxic nature.
Please ZOOM.
Aloha.

Harry, this is one sensational looking capture. I like the point of view on this door that has seen better days.

Rather a sad sight, and well pictured.

Excellent detail on the gritty and abused door, Harry; well spotted on your part, and a really excellent shot!

"Rather a sad sight" (Andrea)---lol, and how! Schools will get that way. Love the strange detail---those cracks in the paint and that awful under-surface (ugh!); graffiti and what looks like graffiti that's been washed over a million times (the upper two panes); and the general decay of the frame. All juxtaposed next to that stark prison-white wall, with its holes, overpainting, etc. And the two blue railings---something a photographer may initially hate---as it "gets in the way"---but which I really like; in fact it pulls us out of the frame, pointing to places beyond the shot. Glad you didn't have to lie down, too---but a challenging shot ,even standing up. Kudos to your eye once more. It must amaze you that, no matter how many of these sights you've captured, there are still more and more to come. That is, your eye makes an area infinite. As Denise says, well spotted on your part.
