Description
Captured 3/19/14, early on an overcast morning, about a mile from my heavenly haunt.
A strip mall (also called a shopping plaza, shopping center, or mini-mall) is an open-air shopping mall where the stores are arranged in a row, with a sidewalk in front. Strip malls are typically developed as a unit and have large parking lots in front. They face major traffic arterials and tend to be self-contained with few pedestrian connections to surrounding neighborhoods.

Okay, with that said, these are the first of forty-three (43) abstracts that I did on the original, sometimes working past midnight when I was so inclined. I chose this photo not because of its color and texture, which was somewhat lacking, but for its contrast, perspective and repetition. Also, I had the masterful black and white technique(s,) which you will see every so often, of Mark/anahata.c in mind when I started out on this tour de force. I may even throw in a Vincent van Gogh style along the way. So be prepared for at least eight more of these collages. And to expedite the effort, this is the only time that I will be including the original, shown at the top of this posting.
Adieu.

I remember you posting this spot before; I liked it then, and I really like it now with these variations. The graphic one and the soft one are my favourites, I think. It's a wonderfully composed shot, and readily lends its beautiful "bone structure" to the fun of filters. Well done, Harry!

Harry, these are really neat. I particularly like the monochrome and the flipped versions, although they each have their merits. Nice :)

Well first of all, ditto Denise; and the original is another fine capture of these long arcades---you've done at least another one, if not several, and they've all been rich in perspective, shadow and texture. (And the early morning capture allows very clean views of the "outside world" through the arches.) Very nicely composed. Second, I'm flattered that you'd want to emulate any of my techniques (as vague as they are), given how well you use your own. Your black and white (ditto the above comments) is a fine etching mixed with ink drawing, and you followed the detail of the original quite closely---all the plaster/paint textures, markings in the sidewalk, etc, have been used and emphasized. Very finely articulated---and the parking lot becomes far more complex. (It's a good center image, btw, because of the colors above and below it.) Your softened one has a glow, and emphasizes the inner light of these long arcades. (Textures still present---nice that you kept them.) The colored one looks inverted as well, and makes it seem an eerie medication-induced late night scene. As if it had heavy neon lights in there...And the final one, you've done a mirror image with a tilt (lol---nice touch!), so there's a slighhhhhht crack in the universe in which god-knows-what may creep in. Almost like water reflections. A crack in the cosmos, but not too big...You have a whole series of these? Wonderful. I look forward to them all. I can see it takes time too. Fine work on all of them Harry, and the original is one of your fine studies of long arched walkways. You sure have an eye for them. And thanks for mentioning my techniques---I think what you did is all yours, but I appreciate that you got some inspiration from whatever I do. Fine montage, with real thought throughout. I'm wondering what will be next...
