Description

You may think I am somewhat brave (nuts) to be standing on that ice shelf to be getting these close ups - the metadata shows I was shooting at 55 mm - so no telephoto zoom. I was standing right there. But reserve such judgements for the real brave nuts - those who climb these things! I was told before hiking into the area that you had to ask the climbers for permission to shoot them because some of them were sensitive about looking bad on the climb. Once I got there I saw how ridiculous that was. I mean would a climber rather have you take a shot, undisturbed or hear me call out from far below, while he clings tenaciously to tons of treacherours ice, "Hey buddy, mind if I get a few snaps of you? Ok? Fine, hey could you move your left arm a bit more sideways, I can't quite focus on your teeth gritting and your eyes are looking way cool wild right now. You're gonna look great!" Yea I thought so too. You crazy enough to be on that ice cliff, you deserve to have someone document your final moments.

Beautiful, but I don't see any climbers here - were there none out there the day you shot this?

very beautiful water falls(ice). recently when I was in Zion Park there were some hikers right along the top of the cliff wall. with at any given time there can be rock slides from ice damage, I was thinking they were very foolish

Super picture & the story make a great duo. That is not the first time you put Story and Picture together into a strong result! Love it!

What a gorgeous shot, Roxy! You are truly devoted to your art, my friend! I can almost feel the cold coming from my monitor. Those minerals in the water give the ice such a lovely blue tone. You have GOT to be kidding.... Looking bad on the climb?? Jeeze.... Yeah, if you're gonna climb an iced over waterfall, you sure don't want your hair to look messed up..... Glad to see those guys have their priorities in order..

This is a great shot and I get a much better sense of scale with this. Climb!? I don't think so. Yes, I'll leave that to the young and crazies. Gorgeous shot.

I can hardly believe people climb that, but I guess there are all kinds. The blue there, is it also high copper content? You had mentioned that on the falls pictures.
