Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Beautiful... but with a hint of creepiness. I'm very impressed with your eye for composition and color. Although this is a simple image, it's expertly framed. Nice job!

Zoom a must! In zoom, this is a huge meandering metallic-looking imitation of a long intestinal tract. It's just fascinating. And it takes over the whole surface. Your capture gives a lot of light to it, and very bright leaves on top and bottom---you showcased it beautifully. I like the two little "spawns" at far right---like they broke loose from the pack and are making their way, solo. A beautiful capture of a strange, convoluted all-encompassing beast. Amazing to think it's right where you live. (And I saw your flickr collection: You really get a lot of variations! And they're all exotic, otherworldly creatures as well, and it's great to see them all in one place.) An eye-popper, this.

Okay, I came up with a cool analogy for this incredible sight on this April Fool's Day, A. What we have here is a long salami, encrusted with oodles of black worms. A great shot of a growth that can be described as both fascinating and yucky.

It probably wouldn't be very tasty on a toasted muffin.

This is a fantastic photo Andrea BUT what a superb presentation over on FlickR! Outstanding.

Admit it, Andrea, what you found is a bunch of smashed raisins. The filigreed leaf at the bottom makes a beautiful image all by itself. I also saw your flickr page. I've said it before, you could write a book.
