Description
I haven't been online for a couple of days because I've been having my computer upgraded. More hard drive space (including a Solid State Drive), more memory & a new DVD writer. It was supposed to take two hours, but due to complications ended up taking two days. Things looked dicey for a while & I thought I might lose my programs & data, but fortunately it turned out okay in the end & everything is back as it was, only faster & with plenty of space to store photos for years to come. All's well that ends well.
Another photo from my Los Angeles Arboretum outing. These turtles were enjoying the sunshine at the edge of a small lake (or was it a large pond? How big does a pond have to be before it becomes a lake?). One more turtle photo to follow...
Please zoom.

You might enjoy the ambiguity of the Wiki on ponds: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pond Great shot of this turtle convention! I'm thinking I'd like to come back as a turtle. They get to hang out at the beach all the time. No worries about sunburn. Mosquitoes don't bite you, you eat them for lunch. It seems like a pretty nice life! (I'm ignoring the danger of becoming lunch.) :P

Glad to hear I'm not the only one confused by the difference. My favorite definition from the Wiki article is: "Pond usually implies a quite small body of water, generally smaller than one would require a boat to cross." That would depend on how good a swimmer one is, wouldn't it? Considering that swimmers have crossed the English Channel, that would be one big pond! And, of course, the Atlantic Ocean is also sometimes referred to as "The Pond"...

Yep, that's a familiar sight around here too! Glad all's well with your computer; it's always scary doing anything with them. I keep my photo files on external drives.
