Description

Special Notes: Well, that’s two books written, and now to start the third. You will find out soon which one it will be next. But first, I’ve been meaning to tell you this little story for over a year now and never got around to it. You might wonder at where the stories come from. Is it my deep dark imagination, or is it something more. Well, it is something more. I have a routine. Every morning I make coffee, I grab my tablet, and I head to the back porch and read the “electronic” newspaper, read comments. Or just stare at the wall. Well, that was my routine until about a year ago. When I first started drawing the Zam cartoons, the routine stayed the same with one small exception. Suddenly one morning, a Grackle landed on the cover of the hot tub and started yacking away at me. Interesting fellow he is, so much to say. Over the last year, the routine of making coffee remained the same. But now the Grackle came every morning and told me stories. Keep in mind, that Grackle never showed up before I started drawing the Zam cartoons. Well, every day I listened to his tales and soon discovered he was Lord of a Great House on a planet called Dara. I, of course, didn’t believe a word of it. But still, I listened politely every morning as Lord Grackle told me tales of not only his world, but of many other worlds. And to this very day, every single morning like clockwork, Lord Grackle lands on my hot tub and squawks all the latest news. Well, I got an earful this morning. I finished repeating the story of House Raven and never once did I ever bother to give Lord Grackle his due. Though, you have heard Lord Grackle’s involvement in the stories many times throughout the book without being aware he deserved his proper credit. I must correct that now. After all, he does visit me every morning and feed me all the good news of what is going on. Well, as you know. All the great Houses have an industry. House Raven you are aware of, and House Hawk is the military complex, House Sparrow is Space and Aeronautics engineering; the Dart ship being their most famous ship ever produced. You have also heard of House Clapper; yes, even mundane products like laundry soap must be produced by someone. And what of House Grackle? Why, the news Vids, of course. Grackle News Network. GNN, keeping you informed, when you need it. Now that I have given Lord Grackle his credit, I’m sure the next story will be posted soon.

Thanks for the info on Lord Grackle! Although I never watch the vids, I've a special spot in my heart for grackles, which stems back to a piece Chip wrote and I expanded on. Ever since then I've seen grackles more often than ever before. :) (Might have something to do with their distribution ... we don't have 'em in Washington. I checked the map. Ummm ... yeah. ) You certainly do understand little boys! This series might go on forever ... I'm sure you have a storehouse of experiences and memories that would provide fodder for these exchanges between brothers.

Yup, boys will be brats! I'm glad I'm not the only one crazy enough to talk to the birds, squirrels, and chipmunks on the back porch.
