In fact, one might even call them boots, found abandoned at the front of a store entrance, 4/16/14, about 3/4 of a mile from home. They have indeed seen better days.
To fully appreciate the fascinating contrast and detail, this definitely should be ZOOMED.

Harry, this is another great capture. Someone appears to have upgraded their footwear.

I've seen old boots like this used as planters in people's gardens; in fact the botanical garden has some in their water-wise garden area. What a cool shot, fascinating contrast between the well-worn leather and the rough sidewalk. Bet if you got too close they'd smell... Well seen and captured, my friend!

Gotta wonder about those, though if they were in front of a shoe store, maybe he got new ones; he sure needed em!! Lotsa miles there!! Great find!!

I was gonna call this a "candid," but nope: It's an out and out portrait. Wonderful shoe portrait, and you got lots of scintillating detail; and I agree with Denise about the leather contrasted with your articulate sidewalk work. I looked up the shoe manufacturer---Dr Martens?---as I was hoping to find these new. But no new pair could match this haggard bunch: Love the paint, the smashed in "face," the cushioned interior (I bet it's still soft!), the bulges (like an elephant sat on them), and a pair of chewed off laces! (The other shoe doesn't even have laces.) Formally, it's angled and centered like your solo flower shots: Glory be for that---you give the same love to these rejects as you would to a rose! That's dedication, sir. Love the capture. And "really big shoe" I assume is a reference to Ed Sullivan, lol. And I like Marilyn's comment about this being in front of a shoe store: The whole idea of leaving your shoes at the door takes on a whole new meaning; like, he couldn't have taken them "inside" lol? There are stories in these abandoned shoe shots of yours, which brings up the line (you think I remember?): There are eight million stories in the Naked City...and this is one of them...
