Description
My competitors, captured 4/27/14, at the beautiful Renaissance Faire, held at the beautiful Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area, in semi beautiful Irwindale, California.
Definitely worth a ZOOM.
I bet it's a hot one up there this weekend. Pity the poor souls in those heavy corseted and multilayered costumes.
Toodles.

These are some very nice captures, Harry. I'll bet there were almost as many photographers there as participants.

Nice to see others out enjoying the faire too. So much colour, so much to see! Your shots are brilliant, Harry, almost like being there. And I'll be it is hot and miserable out there now. Not fun in costume, that's for sure!

Great collage Harry. There is some expensive looking gear in those shots. The "phone lady" looks like she is having the most fun :) ...and yes, it is quite hot out this way. It hit 100, in my neck of the woods, the past couple of days. Not typical May weather.

Yeah, you're all talking about wearing those costumes in the heat---it's amazing that, in all your pictures, there's no real sense of burden or perspiration or anything---as if they'd been made up in an LA film studio (which I know they weren't---esp as many of these people are non-pros). As usual, the shots are vivid, clear, and with bold hues. I luuuuuv that you included a cell phone! Because, let's face it, they're becoming the Brownie camera of our day. Just great to see her at number 4---and she's holding onto a rope or leash that's attached to something. (Is she about to be pulled out of the shot?) She's the total surprise here. The guy in numbers 1 and 2---with that big elephant lens and lens hood?---great capture, to see that big bald head with that huge piece of gear sticking out of it, in the middle of 1580! (I'd love to hear "behold my liege!" from his mouth.) Terrific find, esp with that wooden renaissance shed behind him. The third one is great against that stark sheeted background---and he has a flash: I know flashes are used in sunlight, but it's so incongruous to see one with all that natural light around. You have real photographer shots here---in expression, concentration, etc. Then? The phone lady! With a big grin and a 16th C. peasant gown. That shot's worth an upload alone---Lady Macbeth catching Macbeth playing with the dog. And the last one: A row of people seated on straw---must feel at home with the drought you've all had---and a bunch of cameras. How did you FIND all these cameras??? There's even one resting in the straw, and it doesn't look cheap! And the lady in period garb is pulling out a tripod (!!!)---one of the more common sights in 1550---with a big grin. At first, I thought she was pulling out a machine gun---I was gonna say, "Lady---it's just make believe!" Well composed too, with those bright colors behind them. This is a terrrrr-ific collection, all concentration, vivid colors and tons of fun. A real joy Harry. Thou hast pleased the groundlings gen'rously, m'lord! Zounds!

Great selection of shots mate.. Lens over kill I suspect with one or two of them lol Making up for something? For an even like this (as I am sure you know mate), a 50mm is all you mostly need.. Super colours, well done! Rob
