Description

These beautiful bog plants used to be called Peltaphyllum peltatum which I much preferred as it describes the plant. Pelta means shield and phyllum leaf. The leaves come after the flower is over. I cropped this in 2 ways, and I can't decide which is best so the other is Here

This is gorgeous. Both crops are great, but I think I prefer this one just slightly. I like the way the ant is pointed in the same direction as the flower lines..it flows just slightly better to my eyes.

Or maybe it is where the ant is located in the photo..I am not really sure.

A great shot, the colours are beautiful! I think i like the other one a bit more, though. It's a bit more like "Bam!", in your face 8=)

I prefere this one. It keep a real dimension at this minuscule ant with regard to his environment.

"Peltaphyllum peltatum" What a much more rounded civilized name this is, it beats the crap out of me why they need to keep changing the established names of things. They did it with out sweets too, Opal fruits are now starburst Treets are now M&m's, we don't know where we are now eh? Soon they will be renaming people, Oh we have decided you are not called Ronnie anymore, you are now called Malcolm?

So lovely to see your posting of spring in full bloom, my Friend! What a great pleasure! I'm still waiting on my backyard... just a little more heat and sunshine ( I hope ) Remarkable clarity and capture of the little bug on the flower! What would nature be without some little critters saying hello! :)

I have to say I prefer the flickr image for its impact. More detail and stronger color in that one and I like the flower near center with its back to the ant as if the poor fellow is being spurned.

They're both lovely, and I can see why you couldn't decide. A beautiful plant, and a charming visitor!

They call it something else at the botanical garden; whatever it's called, it's a gorgeous flower and you have a perfect shot with the ant for scale. Well done!
