Description
Captured 4/27/14, at the beautiful Renaissance Faire, held at the beautiful Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area, in semi beautiful Irwindale, California.
I don't know who the chaps were in the middle or who they represented, dressed up in those bright red uniforms...maybe a Queen's guard or a jolly hunting club of sorts, but I caught them relaxing in a game of chess, plus some kind of game - maybe craps - being played by a dude sitting at a round table to the right. Definitely, a hard day at the office.
A ZOOM would make this more interesting.
Toodles.

I love this; all your shots from the faire so far have been great, but this one, maybe because of those red jerkins and that attitudes of involvement you captured, is my favourite so far. It reminds me of a new take on an old painting, like "The Last Supper"; action stopped, and all the characters each projecting their own world. Well done you!

boys will be boys, lol. I agree with Denise, and yes it reminds me of "The Last Supper" too. It also reminds me of another famous ptg, by Rembrandt: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e5/Rembrandt_-De_Staalmeesters-_The_Syndics_of_the_Clothmaker's_Guild.jpg. You have full motion here, the figures all make a swirl of limbs and heads around that playing board. The reds are delicious. And you have all the action in 2/3 of the shot, but that guy playing craps (sic) is terrific back there, all alone. And you got a smiling lady in the shadows, behind the big table: a terrific accent to the piece. And your full bodied reds: Weren't you one of the photographers who complained how hard it was to capture reds? Was it you, Andrea, Denise? Well I find reds to be tyrannical. In this series, your reds are clear as a bell...If you ended the series with this, you'd have one helluva a series; but since you have more to come, I can only say this has been a festival for the eyes, and I'm looking forward to more. Love this series, and I love this shot. (Btw, Denise used the word I was looking for in a previous upload: Jerkin. Those vests were originally made of leather---can you imagine? A hot day in London, no air conditioning, and you're wearing a heavy leather vest??? They didn't know how to dress for the seasons back then...)
