Description
Captured 5/6/14, mid day, within the consistently congenial confines of my condominium complex.
Been a while since I posted a cloud pic, a scene more than familiar to the populaces (populi?) of Seattle and the UK, but not that common to us desert dwellers. Of course, no hint of rain from these beauties. Lots more in my files from this particular exercise in atmospheric photography.

The fluffy white contrasts so nicely against the rich blue of the sky; beautifully captured!! Ours tend to be more on the gray side, holding significant amounts of precipitation which nature usually decides that we need.

In a number of your cloud images, you'll include a bit of the ground level, via a rooftop, some trees, a tower, whatever; and whenever you do, it always roots the shot in the most unexpected ways. Here we're looking at either a chimney or a vent shaft or something similar: It's on the far left. And you've angled it so it juts into the sight, on an angle---making itself known aggressively. (There's a little sibling just to its right---i like that inclusion!) As a result, the clouds seem to be billowing out of the shaft...Other than this reminder that the shot is right over a city, it's of big heavy clouds, very heavy clouds in fact, most surprising that they bear no rain. And strong white highlights in the right half. A fascinating and rich combination of shapes and lights, with that deep almost slate-blue sky. More in your series of fine cloud studies. I can tell you, if we saw those clouds in Chicago, they'd signal rain. Sorry you South Californians have been spared by the weather gods. That makes these beauties real teases in the end...
