Description
Talk about close encounters. A really close knit family, captured back on 12/20/09, at the beautiful Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden, located on the north campus of beautiful California State University Long Beach, in Long Beach, California.
A ZOOM would certainly help distinguish things in this hodgepodge.
I dubbed the big white guy in the above photo, "Moby Dick," in homage to the vindictive whale so prominently featured in the novel of the same name.
MrsRatbag's posting yesterday of a big koi, with a huge mouth smooching for tidbits brought to mind that I have a ton/tonne of pics of this same species in my long overlooked files.

The soundtrack to this should be from Midnight Cowboy, spoken by Dustin Hoffman: "Jey, I'm WALKIN' here!!! I'm WALKIN' here!!!" What a rush hour you caught. It's great you got the albino right in the middle (moby), because he really brings out just how wildly decorated the other koi are. (They really do look painted.) It's not only a fine shot for the crowd, and their interlaced motions, but of the interlaced ripples in the water too. And you got the corpulent heft of the little beasties too. A fine 'in the middle of it all' shot; and that beige fish (moby) is a great accent to top it all off. (I'm working on a "koi" joke, but having no luck. Something ending with "don't be coy!" It won't be funny, forget it...)
