Description

Alan is a patient at the Nursing Home and he and Fritz get on really well. He sits outside in all weathers as he suffers from COPD and therefore like me he finds it easier to breathe. He visited my garden this week and although it rained for most of the visit he thoroughly enjoyed himself. See him in colour and looking less suspicious Here

Excellent portrait shots of this gentleman, I can imagine he enjoyed the gardens. I reckon you could open up the gardens for public viewing for a short period every summer... maybe for a small financial consideration. :-)

Apprehensive is the word I would use. I can imagine a story where he has just been threatened by some Bob Hoskins-like gangster. A wonderful atmospheric black and white.

Well, from the title, I was expecting to see your Alan of hairdresser fame, but this mono portrait is just as good or better. The chap does seem to cast a jaundiced eye on the proceedings, as if the camera is going to steal his soul.

The Flickr one is certainly more friendly, but this one I think makes a much more interesting portrait. One wonders just what's going on his mind (:

He does look well-weathered, and he reminds me of someone famous. Wonderful portrait, Andrea!

The flickr shot has real sharpness and clarity. But this, despite his somewhat sinister stare (enhanced by his glasses) is just a plain fine black and white photo. His face is full of energy, and your detail in the face as well as in his chest hair and wrinkles, and the wonderful skew-edness of his shirt, along with the fine light and shade, make this a really fine black and white portrait, Andrea. I aspire to a portrait like this. (I've yet to do one, as mine are all candids and mostly from a distance.) This is a really fine portrait. I really, really like this.

He doesn't look very suspicious to me - I think that he is just posing for your photo. The color version is also nicely done!
