Captured 5/24/14, very early morning, adjacent to our nearby Interstate 5 freeway widening project.
Continuing on my lengthy odyssey to record everything connected to this construction effort, I came upon this big guy, apparently leaking fluid of some kind, on a Saturday when no one was working. It's sitting on what was originally an onramp to the freeway, now closed. The ramp will return to its former asphalt paved status once the project is done. It was a real mess when they began, with debris, rocks and all, but is now approaching a well leveled off dirt surface. And the wall next to it is coming along just fine.
Ta ta.

What a great set of shots of this beast, Harry; looks like some kind of hydraulic leak, but maybe it's nothing to do with this one. Actually my next door neighbor has one of these in his front yard when I came home tonight, I understand they're having septic tank issues. Not fun for them! But their machine is blue; I'll have to see if I can get over and sneak some shots. Excellent reportage, Harry!

Another of your progressively-closer-shots montages, where we start with overview and end with closeups. Well put together...Re the shots themselves, the stark grays and beiges of the ground and wall make a good backdrop to this big beast, esp with its jaws and yellows gaping at us. You've been doing vehicles for so long, you know the right angles, it seems, before you begin. Your angles allow us many views of this beast. And the last 2 closeups reveal formidable muscles. You've lined up the excavater with the wall quite well. And you revealed the spill too---I wouldn't know where it came from or what caused it, but it's definitely a spill, and it's formidable too with its big coffee smear. And the last shot shows the might and scale of these scoops (if that's what they're called). You caught the power of this thing, and of the tall-wall next to it. It looks like it's in a prison yard. More fine work with a difficult and visually ornery subject.
